Use text to speech on Mac OS X to highlight errors in your writing
If you are struggling to get an email or document to flow correctly, use the built-in text to speech function of Mac OS X to help.
Sometimes when I am writing a detailed email or document I struggle to find the right words, or the flow of the text just doesn’t feel right. One way that I often use to try and get back on track is to use the built-in text to speech function of Mac OS X which will read the text back to you.
Simply select the text you are having difficulty with, right-click (or Ctrl+click) to bring up the contextual menu. Choose ‘Speech > Start Speaking’ and your computer will read it back to you. Bear in mind though that if you are in an office with other people around you will need to plug your headphones in or you will feel rather stupid!
No comments about how I should have used it on this article please :)
